Possible Evidence of Syrian Army Ballistic Missile Launch.
This video, freshly posted today on Youtube, shows the launch of a ballistic missile. The video is thus far undated, but those who posted it and those who have commented on it claim it was taken from a recent defector from the Syrian Army. The accents are seemingly Alawi, that of Syria’s current ruling class. The target is not clearly stated, but there is some mention of Hama. The clear passages in Arabic mostly cover pragramatic things. You can imagine.
go ahead and launch it
counting 1 2 3 4….. 11 12
And all that.
What is not clear is whether this is wartime footage or footage from exercises in recent years, when soldiers would be expected to have cell phones with video capabilities to make such files.
Ballistic missile attacks against rebel-held territorry by Syria’s military have begun to be reported this month; these were one of the last weapons in the government’s arsenal to be brought to bear in the war.
What’s left? Not much, unless the government of Preisdent Bashar al-Assad opts to use chemical weapons.
